They all turned out pretty dang powerful in the end. Sounds cool! My party consisted of : Human Paladin (Devotion), Half-Elf Rogue (Darkweaver), Dwarf Cleric (Life), and Elf Wizard (Shock Arcanist). (Old school squishy wizard) I am thinking for my next play through, try something radically different: Wiz w/Sellsword background (mdm armor proficiency), Life Cleric and 2 Rogues is one I am considering. for now, I went traditional.Paladin, Ranger, Cleric, Wizard.

Once I finish my play through, I intend to start again with a different party configuration. Snarky little quips between party members, nothing mean or overtly demeaning.just sharp little barbs as would be exchanged between travelling companions on the road.

The very 1st time I booted the game, set my party up and began, it just felt like a tabletop session. Good to know! Thank-you!Īs for the game I completely agree with you. I had several side quests to do and did not get to do them became of it. It is NOT apparent in the game this is the case - it seems like just another step on your journey and BAM you are cut off from the rest of the world map. Once you start this you won't be able to go back and do anything else. When you get to "Missing Piece" in the main quest, you are at the Endgame. Please ensure you've done everything you want to do, including sidequests, before moving on with the "Missing Piece" quest. They are still sharp and crisp in the world though, where it really matters. My one complaint is that if you have a monitor with a native resolution of 1440x900 or less (like mine), the models in the static screens (like level up, inventory, stores, etc.) will be blurry. They are not AAA, but that is appealing to me. Also, it's great that your PCs are just some random adventurers and mostly here for the money (like real D&D characters) and not some sacred "Chosen One." It gives you the best parts of Icewind Dale NPCs (customization) with the best of Baldur's Gate (unique personalities).

I loved the fact you get to make your whole party but that the personalities are sort of out of your control to an extent. It's easy to follow, makes sense, and has a few twists and turns that (for me) were unexpected and delightful. It's not on par with Planescape Torment for sure, but it's a perfectly serviceable fantasy storyline. The gameplay, especially the combat, is a ton of fun.Ī lot of people say the story is lacking. As a player and DM of the tabletop version of D&D, I learned a LOT about the rules I did not know prior to playing this game. It's very faithful to the 5e rules and employs them in an elegant way that's super fun. If you like D&D 5th Edition, you will love this game. I am sad that I beat it so quickly but there's still content to check out (see below) so I will be playing around with it for a bit longer. I beat Solasta Crown of the Magister today.
